چکیده

Electron momentum spectroscopy (EMS) measures the spectral function of electrons in matter directly, provided that multiple scattering effects are negligibly small. Even for the thinnest films this is not the case and one has to correct for multiple scattering effects in order to retrieve the spectral function. Both elastic and inelastic scattering effects affect the measurement. Elastic scattering is expected to increase greatly with increasing atomic number, much more so than inelastic scattering. For this reason EMS was thought to be of limited value for heavy targets. Here, we present data for carbon, silicon and gold and show that they are affected in different ways by multiple scattering. The gold sample has poor count rate, but in the spectra the multiple scattering effects appear rather minor. Carbon and silicon on the other hand h e ©

Recent Advances in Electron Momentum Spectroscopy *

The flexibility of the (e, 2e) technique or "electron momentum spectroscopy" (EMS) in obtaining information on the electronic structure of atoms, molecules, and solids is demonstrated. Highresolution EMS measurements for argon, including the first measurements of momentum profiles belonging to the 2 P° and D-manifolds, are used to demonstrate the technique for atomic targets. The d-wave transit...

Experimental Study of Positron Production from Monocrystalline Targets at the Kekb Injector Linac

We report a series of positron-production experiments from an axially-oriented single-crystal target by 4and 8GeV channeling electrons at the KEKB injector linac. The targets tested are tungsten crystals with different thicknesses (14.2 mm at maximum), and diamond crystals with two different thicknesses (7.25 mm at maximum). The axis <111> for the tungsten crystals and that <110> for the diamon...

A Novel Electrodialysis Membrane, Modified by Polydopamine and Carbon Nanofibers, Removes Toxic Heavy Metal Ions from Wastewaters

Background: In light of severe and growing shortages of clean water and the rising environmental pollution in many countries, seawater desalination has been an effective method to produce freshwater. Cationic membranes have enabled environmental scientists to effectively remove toxic heavy metals from wastewater and to regenerate freshwater. Methods: We used a novel method, involving electro- ...

ELECTRON PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE (EPR) SPECTROSCOPY AND GEOCHEMISTRY IN TIN EXPLORATION AT RENISON, TASMANIA AUSTRALIA

Rock powder of dolomite samples from the Renison mine area of Tasmania, Australia were analyzed by electron paramagnentic resonance spectroscopy (EPR), Atomic Absorption and Mass Spectrometer to identify alteration related to mineralisation. The least-altered dolomite samples, which are not effected by circulation of diagenetic and hydrothermal fluids are characterised by low Mn and Fe and ...

Microwave-assisted rapid synthesis of Co3O4 nanorods from CoC2O4.2H2O nanorods and its application in photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation

In this work, Co3O4 nanorods were successfully prepared by microwave-assisted solid state decomposition of rod-like CoC2O4.2H2O precursor within a very short reaction time (6 min) without the use of a solvent/surfactant and complicated equipment. The as-obtained Co3O4 nanorods were fully characterized by X-ray diffract...
